Manager, Instructor, Black Belt Sensei Miranda comes to Karate Kids from Texas where she studied martial arts.
Miranda graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of North Texas in 2005 with a BA in
Theatre and a minor in Radio, TV, and Film. As an actress Miranda has appeared in commercials
for a wide range of companies in Texas and hopes to achieve even more in California. With her background in martial arts
and teaching children, Miranda is a perfect fit for Karate Kids and is extremely excited to join the family!

Chief Instuctor, Black Belt Sensei Eric
is a Southern California native who got the "karate bug" when his mom took him to his very first class at the age of ten. With many years of teaching experience, Sensei Eric's varied martial arts background includes Karate, American Kenpo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, FCS, and Muay Thai Kickboxing. Sensei Eric loves a high energy class and it's his personal goal to make sure every Karate Kid has a big smile on the way out of the dojo. KIAI! |

Instructor, Black Belt Sensei Oscar Born in San Francisco raised in Oakland where he began his martial arts training at the young age of 10. He received his black belt at age 16 around the same time he started teaching and was considered a favorite to both students and parents. He then went on to become State and USTU National champion in Creative Forms competition. He enjoys teaching because of the positive energy, which he feels is very important to have in life. When he is not teaching, he likes to work on his acting craft, and career.

Instructor, Black Belt Sensei Derek is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. He began his martial arts training at the age of nine, studying numerous styles in addition to Shotokan Karate. A talented actor, Sensei Derek has appeared in theater, commercials, film and TV, and is also co-owner of Electric Education, a company dedicated to enriching a child's education through theater. Sensei Derek is always happy to share the spotlight with his students at Karate Kids!

Instructor, Black Belt, and Customer Service Staff Sensei Lindsay is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and has been practicing Shotokan Karate, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, and Filipino Martial Arts for over 14 years. In addition, she has served as Programming Coordinator at the Violence Intervention and Prevention Center in Lexington, KY, and participated in the CALCASA Conference sponsored by the Department of Justice Office of Violence Against Women. Sensei Lindsay is thrilled to pursue her life-long passions for martial arts and bettering the lives of children here at Dawn Barnes Karate Kids.

Customer Service Staff Miss Jacquelyn, is a Southern California native, who lived for several years in New Jersey. Always interested in inspiring children, she began teaching Sunday School at the age of 14! An avid runner since high school, she enjoys hiking and is currently training to run a marathon, while studying International Business at Pierce College. Miss Jacquelyn is proud to continue inspiring children here at Karate Kids! |

Customer Service Staff, Mister Galen, graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Musical Theatre. An avid singer, actor, and dancer, he spent summers assisting in musical theatre camps for kids. A passionate sports fan, Galen can often be found at the beach.
Excited to learn karate himself, Galen is happy to be surrounded by kids again and looks forward to helping nurture their passions.
