of martial arts. He uses his knowledge of sports kinesiology and applies it in his classes. He loves inspiring self-esteem in
children, building the character and confidence skills necessary for a happy, healthy and wholesome life.

Assistant School Manager, Miss Carolyn is a recent graduate from California State University, Fullerton with a B.S in Health Science. She not only has experience working with children, but enjoys working with the elderly, by volunteering at the seniors centers in Redondo Beach. Carolyn lives an active lifestyle by snowboarding in the winter, beach volleyball in the summer, and training for triathlons throughout the year. She loves to inspire those young and old, to live a happy, healthy, and wholesome lifestyle!

Instructor, Black Belt, Sensei Chris hails from San Antonio, TX, where he started martial arts at age 10. In addition to Shotokan karate, he has years of experience in Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Hapkido, making him a big fan of MMA. Sensei Chris has also toured the country as a stand-up comedian, and has performed for our troops overseas. A father of two boys, Sensei Chris believes that leading by example is the best way to teach children how to be their best.

Instructor, Black Belt Sensei Oscar Born in San Francisco raised in Oakland where he began his martial arts training at the young age of 10. He received his black belt at age 16 around the same time he started teaching and was considered a favorite to both students and parents. He then went on to become State and USTU National champion in Creative Forms competition. He enjoys teaching because of the positive energy, which he feels is very important to have in life. When he is not teaching, he likes to work on his acting craft, and career.

Instructor, Black Belt Sensei Lily was born and raised right here in Los Angeles. Her background in Shotokan is complemented by black belts in both Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do, as well as experience with a number of weapons, including the fan! A graduate of USC with degrees in Art History and Philosophy, Sensei Lily also enjoys reading comic books and cycling around town. But don't let her calm smile fool you

Instructor, Black Belt Sensei Alvin has been training in the martial arts since he was 16. A Black Belt in Shotokan Karate he also continues to train in Filipino Martial Arts and Brazilian Jujitsu. Sensei Alvin has over a decade of experience working in children's recreation and enrichment activities. He believes that the Martial Arts helps children develop into strong, confident adults. He is proud to share this gift with his own daughter and all the children at Dawn Barnes Karate Kids.

Customer Service Staff, Mister John hails from Orange County and is currently working towards his Bachelors degree in Human Development at CSULB.
He has an extensive background working with children, including students with autism and Down’s Syndrome, and aspires to one day become a
pediatric Occupational Therapist. Mister John is also an avid biker and reader, which help to keep his mind strong, body strong, and spirit strong!

Miss Britney, Customer Service Staff, was born and raised in Upstate New York. She earned her B.S. in Psychology at Howard University and is currently working on her Masters in Counseling at Loyola Marymount University. It is her great desire to be an advocate for youth services and bring assistance to those truly in need. Miss Britney hopes to be an inspiring role model to all of the students at Karate Kids.
